After obtaining PhD from Newcastle University in 1991, Dr Tang had extensive scientific and clinical research work in western medicine-related fields (cancer immunology, biotechnology etc.) at leading universities and hospitals including University of Birmingham & Queen Elizabeth Hospital in UK, University of Tennessee Medical Centre in USA and Tsinghua University in China. Since 2007, he has been studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, and has been professionally trained both in China and UK. Dr Tang has now been fully qualified as a TCM practitioner including acupuncture, herbal medicine and tuina therapy. Since 2019， he has established his own TCM clinic: Te Tao Chinese Medical Centre, which is based at Plymouth city centre and provids full range of TCM services for Plymouth and surrounding areas of Devon and Cornwall.
